| JOAQUIN RESTREPO 2 JOAQUIN RESTREPO 2 - At a very early age he was interested in Art History, Music and goldsmith, disciplines that were the core, and strengthened, his artistic vocation. Joaquín Restrepo started his studies in fine arts, in Medellin, under the direction of the the Recognized Artist Debora Arango and the North American Painter Ethel Gilmour, between years 2000 through 2003. In this period he mostly worked oil, pastel, charcoal and acrylic techniques. In 2003 he traveled to Bogotá and enrolled in the School of Plastic Arts at Los Andes University, where he developed studies which, for four years, he complemented with an an intense learning of Art History and artistic execution, with the great Colombian Master, David Manzur, who became, and still is, his mentor. Before even turning 20 years old, Joaquin J. Restrepo has been invited, along with the the most recognized Colombian artists, to create sculptures, which were auctioned in in prestigious events organized by entities such as Christies in New York, Museo Nacional de Colombia and the Corazon Verde Foundation, in favor of the victims of the war that has desolated his country. The last of these sculptures, a horse measuring 8.2 ft. of height, created with iron plaques was given the title Miserere, and was auctioned in 2007 with a Great Success, in the public event called Equsarte. This piece gave him Great acknowledgements from intellectual and artistic authorities in Colombia. |
