Concheras of Tambillo - Working and Earning a Living
Concheras of Tambillo Cockle collectors in a community near the border of Ecuador and Colombia go to the mangroves each day to earn a living by collecting mollusks from the mud.
This is really interesting. I just wonder, what do they do with the mollusk? Do they eat them? I mean, aren't those mollusk poisonous? I love collecting cockles too. Every time I go to the beaches, I could never forget to bring a piece or two of those shells to it to my collection. I know it is weird but I just feel so happy every time I see my collection. I write on them the date and the place where I got them.
I have not eaten mollusks in my entire life. We do have different ways to survive and live in this planet. But I think I would not dare eating such. But well, they are used to eating that stuffs so I think their tummies are used to that. I also love collecting cockles. I see to it that I always bring some whenever I am to visit the sea. Good day.
I was impressed with the numerous mangroves around that place in the border of Ecuador and Colombia. The people should really learn to preserve and protect it from other people who might just destroy them. Mangroves play an important role in the lives of fish and other sea creatures. It will also help the fishermen to get a better living. Thank you for sharing the video. Great day to all.
Thanks for sharing the video to us. It is nice to know that many people are now considering a great deal in making our environment a great deal to have. I really wanna know much about that area. I love to see places that are interested in mangroves area where a lot of sea creatures are seen. I am planning to go there as soon as possible. I hope it will be soon.
Is this a lucrative endeavor for them, to is it done only by those who can not get a better job? Do each of these items collected make a good amount of money for these people? It is unfortunate that many of the native ethnic groups in these countries live in very poor conditions due to not being able to adapt to the changing times, probably because of the little help they received by the colonists.
